Why a Soundtrack?

I have always loved listening to music while reading.

Mostly because when I’m escaping into words, I need some kind of background noise. Sometimes, though, a book comes along with it’s own soundtrack. I am always fascinated by these soundtracks.

The music somehow brings the book more to life, brings me deeper into the book. It helps richen the experience and deepen my enjoyment.

Because of this I have always wanted to create my own soundtrack to one of my novels and decided on Valentine. Why is that you ask? Well, mostly because Valentine is my most emotional novel.

Valentine tells the story of a sorcerer who is afraid to let his heart love another man. What could be a more powerful backdrop for music than that?

How Does This Work?

Here’s how the soundtrack works. There is a track for each of the chapters in the novel. As you read each chapter, make sure to play the accompanying song to deepen the experience, the enjoyment.

But because I know that all good readers need little breaks, I’ve included three Interludes named after each of the main characters in the book: Valentine, Asterius and Anna. I tried to find songs that would mirror them.

So sit back, press play on your CD player and take a listen. It is my hope that you will be transported to another time.
